DesktopBuddy Privacy.
Last updated: May 12, 2026
We collect nothing.
DesktopBuddy does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. The application runs entirely on your Mac and does not connect to any external servers.
What DesktopBuddy reads on your machine
~/.claude/settings.json— When you click “Install hooks”, DesktopBuddy adds entries to this file so Claude Code can notify it of activity. A backup of your previous settings is saved before any modification.~/.desktopbuddy/state.json— DesktopBuddy reads this file to determine which animation to play. The file is written by a small CLI helper bundled with the app, triggered by Claude Code hooks.
Both files stay on your machine. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Third-party services
DesktopBuddy does not use any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services.
